Who is this course for?

This online course is designed for anyone interested in developing their skills in facilitating online events and courses. There is no cost to take this course. It is offered as an open educational resource by INASP.

What will you learn?

Once you have completed this course and all of its activities, you will be able to:

  • Choose facilitation techniques that work for different types of online engagement
  • Facilitate an online course
  • Run an online event, such as a video conference or webinar
  • Choose tools to engage with online participants

Support available

There will be a course moderator, a team of facilitators, and a technical administrator. They will support you with your learning on the discussion forums.

Expected time commitment

About 3 hours to complete each unit. About 12 hours to complete the entire course.

Completion criteria
  1. Work through all guided readings;
  2. Take part in the discussion activities in each unit;
  3. Pass the quiz at the end of each unit;
  4. Take part in the assignment in Unit 2; and
  5. Complete the feedback survey.
Certificate

You will receive a certificate of completion if you meet the completion criteria.

Connectivity required

We recommend that you access the course on a reasonably fast internet connection so that you can watch the videos embedded in the content. However, completion is possible without necessarily watching the videos.

Deadlines

There will be firm deadlines for the submission and peer feedback phases of the Unit 2 assignment. The discussion activities and quizzes will remain open until the end of course, but we encourage you to keep up with the weekly schedule of the course.

Compatibility with mobile devices

You can use a web browser on your mobile phone or tablet to access INASP Moodle. This website is responsive and it will automatically resize to fit the dimensions of your screen. However, for an effective learning experience, we strongly recommend that you use a computer instead of a mobile device.

How to enrol

We are going to run a pilot of this course in September 2021. This will be for a pre-selected group of participants. If you have received an enrolment key from INASP, please follow the instructions below. If you'd like to be notified when we announce a open version of the course, please subscribe to this forum.

Enrolment instructions

  1. Bookmark this page in your browser to find it again easily.
  2. Create an account on this website (if you don't have one) or login with your existing account. Click the 'Log in' link at the top right hand corner to proceed.
  3. After you have logged in, come back to this page. 
  4. You will see a text box to enter an enrolment key at the bottom of this page. Enter the enrolment key that you have received from INASP. Make sure you do not include spaces or any additional characters in the enrolment key box.
